India Energy Week

India Energy Week is the pre-eminent platform for experts in the traditional and non-traditional energy industry from around the world and will embody India’s energy ambitions, showcasing it as a global powerhouse for energy transition and a hub that brings together the international energy industry.

Taking place in February in Bengaluru, India, the inaugural edition will convene leaders from the energy value chain, finance, government, think tanks and academia to address the challenges and opportunities presented by a responsible energy transition that balances security, affordability, access and sustainability.

As India accelerates its efforts to secure its energy and power by investing across infrastructure and exploration and production, India Energy Week provides a unique opportunity for key decision-makers to expedite synergies between stakeholders and identify new growth opportunities.

The Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas

The Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas is concerned with exploration and production of Oil & Natural Gas, refining, distribution and marketing, import, export and conservation of petroleum products. Oil and Gas being the important import for our economy, many initiatives have been taken by the Ministry for increasing production and exploitation of all domestic petroleum resources to address the priorities like Energy Access, Energy Efficiency, Energy Sustainability and Energy Security.

Important areas of work allocated to the Ministry include, exploration for, and exploitation of petroleum resources, including natural gas and Coal Bed Methane, gas hydrates and shale gas; Production, supply, distribution, marketing and pricing of petroleum, including natural gas, Coal Bed Methane and petroleum products; Oil refineries, including Lube Plants; additives for petroleum and petroleum products; Blending and blending prescriptions for bio-fuels including laying down the standards for such blending; Marketing, distribution and retailing of bio-fuels and its blended products; Planning, development, control and assistance to all industries dealt with by the Ministry; Creation and administration of strategic petroleum reserve through Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserves Limited (ISPRL); Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC) etc.

The Federation of Indian Petroleum Industry

The Federation of Indian Petroleum Industry (FIPI) is an apex Society of entities in the hydrocarbon sector and acts as an industry interface with Government and regulatory authorities. It supports the Government in resolution of issues and evolution of policies and regulations. It represents the industry on various Government bodies, committees and task forces and has been instrumental in voicing industry concerns with various ministries and regulators.

It aims to be the most effective and influential voice of the oil & gas industry to facilitate its development as a globally competitive industry in India that enjoys the respect and trust of the society. Several Government policy initiatives have their genesis in its reports and publications, some of which are quoted in documents like the Integrated Energy Policy.

All major companies operating in the oil & Gas sector in India are members of FIPI. It has a Governing Council which is represented by the top-level executives drawn from the large oil and gas companies operating in India. It has a Director General as its functional head and leadership team consisting of experts drawn from the respective functional domains. It has 15 Functional committees which cover every aspect of the oil and gas business and are represented by senior professional executives from the member companies.
