ONGC's offshore pipeline project sparks global bids for contracts.

29 July 2025

Bids for the ongoing PRP-9 tender are likely to be submitted later this month, with at least four players said to be preparing technical and commercial offers

India's Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) is advancing the PRP-9 offshore development project in the Mumbai High and Neelam-Heera fields, with bids for the contract expected by the end of July 2025.

This project is considered one of the largest offshore pipelay contracts available this year in Asia. At least four companies are preparing technical and commercial proposals for the tender. The scope of work includes the installation of subsea pipelines, risers, and associated facilities, aimed at enhancing oil and gas production from these mature fields.

The project is part of ONGC's broader strategy to rejuvenate aging assets and maintain production levels in the face of declining output from older fields. The successful bidder will be responsible for executing complex offshore operations, including pipeline laying and subsea construction activities.

The PRP-9 project underscores the growing competition among contractors for significant offshore projects in Asia. With the submission deadline approaching, industry players are intensifying their efforts to secure this lucrative contract.

The outcome of this tender is anticipated to have a substantial impact on the regional offshore services market.
