The European Commission launches €150 million funding call to support cross-border renewable energy projects.

04 November 2024

The European Commission, through its Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) programme, has launched a €150 million call for works and studies to support cross-border renewable energy projects aimed at strengthening cooperation, integration and deployment of renewables across European grids. The initiative opens in February 2026 and targets projects that enhance clean energy generation and system resilience.

The European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) has launched a new €150 million call for cross-border renewable energy (CB RES) projects under the CEF Energy framework, aimed at accelerating renewable deployment and integration across the EU.

Opening for submissions on 5 February 2026 and closing on 12 March 2026, the call will support both studies and works that enhance cross-border renewable generation, grid integration, and supporting infrastructure such as energy storage.

Funding is restricted to projects included in the CB RES list adopted by the European Commission, reinforcing a coordinated approach to renewable energy planning and investment. The initiative is expected to strengthen cooperation between member states while enabling cost-effective scaling of renewables across borders.

Overall, the call reflects the EU’s continued focus on system integration, regional collaboration, and accelerating the clean energy transition through targeted infrastructure and project support.
