LPG Equipment Research Centre (LERC), Bangalore is a joint venture undertaking of the three Indian national Oil majors, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd under the aegis of Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and was set up in 1990 with a purpose to develop quality equipments for usage with LPG and suitable quality control measures so as to ensure safety to customers. LERC undertakes testing and certification activities in the energy field with specific emphasis on LPG related research.
Shri T D Sabu has over 30 years of experience in the Petroleum Industry most of which he has spent in the field of LPG. He joined IndianOil in 1994 engineering as a management trainee after completing his graduation in Chemical Engineering and then went on to work in different capacities in various states across the country.
Prior to his posting in LERC he headed the LPG Operations in the state of Kerala where he made cardinal contribution to the reduction of domestic supplies backlog in the state which used to be a perennial problem in the state. He was instrumental in upgrading and modernizing all the Plants in the state. Prior to that he was posted in Allahabad in the state of Uttar Pradesh. As the head of LPG Sales which covered 12 districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh, He was instrumental in the launch of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana in that geographical area which took the LPG penetration of the country from just 55% to over 99% in 4 years. He also headed LPG Plants in the states of Uttar Pradesh Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh with extensive experience in technical upgradations and optimization. He has also been a member of various industry task forces including OISD audit committees. He has worked across six states and has also had experience in retail and direct sales of various POL products.
