Mrs. Madhura Mitra is an Executive Director at PwC India and leads the Climate Change and Carbon practice for the firm. She has more than 17 years of experience in low carbon designs, climate change mitigation and adaptation, climate finance strategies and carbon markets.
Nationally, Madhura and her team is currently leading the development and implementation of the first ever domestic carbon market in India, the Carbon Credit Trading Scheme (CCTS) with Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power, Govt of India. In addition, she is leading the design and development of the country’s first National Adaptation Plan (NAP) document. Within India, she also works closely with large private sector entities such as Aditya Birla Group, Adani Group, Tata and Vedanta group companies advising them on their carbon footprint, decarbonization and Net Zero strategies.
Globally, she works as a climate expert with Asian Development Bank, GiZ, World Bank, United Nations Development Program across the South Asian and Southeast Asian regions, Pacific Island Countries and Africa. She also works closely with the World Economic Forum, to co-develop a framework for private sector participation in funding and taking actions around climate change adaptation.
