Nishaanth Balashanmugam is a business graduate from Newcastle, UK, with over 16 years of diverse industry experience. He currently serves as the Founding Director and CEO of Green Hydrogen India (GH2 India), a Section 8 company dedicated to accelerating the adoption of green hydrogen in the country. Under his leadership, GH2 India has emerged as the largest and most active network on green hydrogen in India, catalysing investments and building a robust green hydrogen ecosystem.
In this role, Nishaanth has orchestrated a multi-stakeholder drive that strategically connects governments and industry to advance India’s green hydrogen ambitions. He has established and nurtured relationships with multiple central ministries, eight state governments, over 130 companies, and a broad spectrum of international partners. His work involves assisting project developers on financing, capacity building, and standards, while supporting various government bodies on policy, contracting and stakeholder engagements.
He has played a pivotal role in championing sustainability, spearheading GH2 India’s initiatives across the country, and fostering widespread collaboration among key stakeholders.
Earlier in his career, Nishaanth spent over a decade in managerial roles at Honda and Ford dealerships, bringing together strategic insights from both the corporate world and the sustainability sector. His steadfast dedication to the environment, combined with extensive industry expertise, has positioned him as a driving force in India’s clean energy transformation.
