Shri Mundkur Shyamprasad Kamath is the Managing Director of Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL), bringing with him over three decades of distinguished experience in the downstream hydrocarbon industry. A Chemical Engineering graduate from MIT Manipal and a Post-Graduate in Management from TA Pai Management Institute, he combines deep technical expertise with strong managerial and strategic acumen. He began his professional journey at MRPL as a Graduate Trainee and, through sustained performance and leadership, rose through the organization to assume the position of Managing Director—reflecting a career built on merit, commitment, and institutional knowledge.

During his earlier tenure as Executive Director (Refinery), Shri Kamath provided decisive leadership across refinery operations, maintenance, and technical services, driving excellence in production, reliability, energy efficiency, and safety. His leadership style is defined by operational discipline, continuous improvement, and an uncompromising commitment to safety—values that align closely with the ethos of national industrial security.

A strong proponent of technology-led transformation, Shri Kamath has been instrumental in advancing the adoption of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning across refinery processes, enhancing predictive reliability, productivity, and data-driven decision-making. Under his guidance, MRPL is progressing toward a future anchored in digitalization, operational efficiency, and sustainable growth.

In addition to his role as Managing Director of MRPL, Shri Kamath also serves as Chairman of Shell MRPL Aviation Fuels and Services Limited, reflecting his stewardship of critical energy infrastructure. His leadership embodies integrity, innovation, and a deep sense of nation-building, working in close partnership with security agencies to safeguard one of India’s most vital energy assets.
