Bhagwan Sahay Bairwa is a senior power-sector professional currently serving as Chief Engineer in the Central Electricity Authority under the Ministry of Power. He has extensive experience in grid operations and power system planning in India as well as and cross border interconnections.
Presently, he is responsible for coordination of intra-state and inter-state transmission system planning in India and deeply involved in approval of transmission system. He has prepared intra-state transmission resource adequacy reports of various states. He leads bilateral technical teams on cross-border electricity cooperation and plays a significant role in India’s energy collaboration with neighboring countries. He has represented India in several regional and international forums, including SAARC, BIMSTEC, SASEC, and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP).
Shri Bairwa is known for his expertise in power system planning, grid operations, energy markets, and cross-border electricity trade, with his contributions being acknowledged both nationally and internationally.
