OVERVIEW

The Oil and Gas Climate Initiative (OGCI) is a CEO-led initiative made up of 12 of the world's leading energy companies aiming to address climate change and promote actions towards a net-zero future, in line with the objectives of the 2015 Paris Agreement. Its members include Aramco, bp, Chevron, CNPC, Eni, Equinor, ExxonMobil, Occidental, Petrobras, Repsol, Shell, and TotalEnergies. OGCI also serves as the decarbonization partner for India Energy Week 2026.

Throughout 2025, the OGCI CCUS Workstream has been developing a whitepaper that explores the potential of carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) as a decarbonization option for India, building on a series of similar studies conducted for regions such as China, the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, Brazil, and Egypt. The report is being developed in collaboration with the Global CCS Institute (GCCSI), with a strong emphasis on local stakeholder engagement.

To facilitate this process, OGCI held a workshop at India Energy Week in Delhi in February 2025 to test key assumptions and outline the scope of the work before it began. The objective of the upcoming workshop at India Energy Week 2026 is to present preliminary findings to key stakeholders and secure their support ahead of the report's publication later in 2026, ensuring that it is well-received.
