Mr. Rajarshi Gupta brings over 36 years of extensive experience across various aspects of the upstream Oil & Gas industry. As MD & CEO since July 2022, he has effectively led the company through unprecedented global geopolitical turmoil and played a key role in boosting production from operated and jointly operated projects of the company. Under his leadership, ONGC Videsh secured the “Navaratna” status, an elite club of Indian state-owned enterprises. 

Before assuming the role of MD & CEO at ONGC Videsh, Mr. Gupta held the position of Executive Director, Head of Corporate Planning & Strategy at ONGC where he played a pivotal role in formulating the company's short, medium, and long-term strategies as a vital member of the strategic decision-making team.
In his previous stint at ONGC Videsh, he has been the President of ONGC Videsh Atlantic Inc. (OVAI, a subsidiary of ONGC Videsh & Country Manager, USA, and was instrumental in setting up the Geological & Geophysical Centre of Excellence at Houston. Mr Gupta has extensive experience in Business Development, working across the globe in diverse geographical and fiscal regimes, Mergers & Acquisitions, and Project Management of Exploration & Development Projects.

He also has wide field experience in oil & gas operations with specialization in Supply Chain Management, Contract Management and Support services.

Mr. Gupta is a graduate of Mechanical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Rourkela, and a Gold Medalist in MBA (International Business) from Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, New Delhi, a premier business school of India.
