Izumi Kai is Managing Executive Officer, CEO of JERA Asia in Singap ore and the Head of the Platform Business Division at JERA Co. Mr. K ai also serves as a member of the Board of Directors at Aboitiz Powe r in the Philippines and Summit Power International in Singapore.

Since joining Tokyo-based global energy company JERA Co. in 2016, M r. Kai has played a pivotal role in the development of a number o f JERA’s international ventures. These include the successful lau nch of JERA Global Markets in Singapore, JERA’s LNG optimization and trading platform, as well as the procurement of natural gas a nd export of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the Freeport LNG Pr oject in Texas. Mr. Kai served as President of JERA Energy Americ a from 2019 to 2023 and was also appointed as the Head of Freeport LNG Business, Senior Vice President of JERA Americas in 2019, and Chief Strategy Officer in 2021.

In his current role as both the CEO of JERA Asia and Head of the P latform Business Division at JERA Co., Mr. Kai has overall respons ibility for leading JERA’s downstream fuel and power activities in cluding developing JERA’s gas-to-power and low greenhouse gas ther mal power businesses across Asia, the Middle East, and North America.

Mr. Kai began his career as a civil engineer at Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) and has more than 25 years of business development experience across the U.S., Australia, Japan and other Asian countr ies. Mr. Kai holds an MBA in Global Management from Arizona State U niversity’s Thunderbird School of Global Management.
