Ronaldo Ramos Caiado is 75 years old and was born in Anápolis, Goiás (GO), Brazil. He is affiliated with the União Brasil party, a rural producer, and a medical doctor,having graduated from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) with Specialization in Orthopedic Surgery by the University of Paris. He is married to Gracinha Caiado and has four children: Anna Vitória Caiado, Ronaldo Caiado Filho (in memory), Marcela Caiado, and Maria Caiado.

In 2018, he was elected for the first time as governor of Goiás through the Democrats party. He won the elections in the first round with 59.73% of valid votes. In the 2022 elections, now representing União Brasil, he achieved re-election in the first round, obtaining 51.81% of valid votes. He became the first governor of Goiás to win two consecutive elections in the first round. Consecutively at the end of 2023 and 2024, he was recognized by national research institutes as the best rated governor in Brazil.

Before reaching the Executive Branch, Caiado was elected to six terms in the National Congress. In 1990, he became the most-voted federal deputy of Goiás for the PSD. In 1998, 2002, and 2006, he served in the Chamber of Deputies representing the PFL. In 2010, he was re-elected as a federal deputy for the Democrats. In 2014, he ran for the Federal Senate, being elected as senator from Goiás with 47.57% of the valid votes.

Ronaldo Caiado began his public life in the 1980s. He founded the União Democrática Ruralista (UDR), with the objective of defending the interests of rural landowners. As leader of the UDR, along with the Brazilian Cooperatives Organization and the Brazilian Rural Society (SRB), he organized a protest in Brasília in 1987 that attracted thousands of farmers. Their demands included realigning minimum prices and ending food imports.

In 1989, with the restoration of direct presidential elections, he ran for President of Brazil through the Social Democratic Party (PSD) and received 488,872 votes. Descending from a traditional political family in Goiás, Ronaldo’s grandfather, Antônio Ramos Caiado, known as Totó Caiado, served as a federal deputy (1909-1921) and senator. His uncle, Brasil Ramos Caiado, governed the state from 1925 to 1929 and later became a senator. His cousin, Leonino Di Ramos Caiado, was the governor of Goiás from 1971 to 1975.

In January 2024 was elected President of the Central Brazil Interstate Development Consortium, representing the governors of the States of Goias, Maranhão, Rondonia. Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Tocantins and Federal District. He is in charge of the Consortium until January 2026.

Governor Ronaldo Caiado´s plans for 2026 is to once again run for President of Brazil with the support of the União Brasil party.
