With over 33 years of diverse experience in refining operations, project commissioning, process optimization, energy management, and corporate strategic planning, K. Sri Ganesh currently serves as Chief General Manager – Integrated Margin Management (IMM) at HPCL’s Corporate Headquarters, Mumbai. Sri Ganesh heads the Integrated Margin Management department, which plays a pivotal role in shaping HPCL's crude procurement and refining strategy. He leads a multidisciplinary team responsible for crude sourcing, refinery planning, and margin optimization for HPCL’s major refineries — Mumbai Refinery (MR), Visakhapatnam Refinery (VR) — and supports crude and product planning for HPCL’s Greenfield refinery in Rajasthan (HRRL). His department also actively tracks and analyzes refinery performance and collaborates with operating refineries, HP Green R&D, and other corporate functions to drive margin improvement initiatives and enhance refinery competitiveness. Prior to his corporate assignment, Sri Ganesh served as Chief General Manager – Technical Services at HPCL Mumbai Refinery, where he led several landmark projects and operational revamps, including capacity expansion of Mumbai Refinery from 7.5 MMTPA to 9.5 MMTPA; commissioning and upgrade of Diesel Hydrotreating Unit to meet Euro VI norms; commissioning of CCR Platforming Unit as part of Green Fuels and Emission Control project; and energy efficiency and throughput improvements through system revamps. His technical expertise includes crude and product planning, distillation, catalytic cracking, reforming, hydroprocessing, lube processing (hydrotreating, solvent extraction, propane dewaxing), project execution and commissioning, energy conservation, operational excellence, margin improvement, and strategic corporate planning. Publications include: “Tray Revamp Restores Crude Column Performance”, PTQ International Revamps 2018 and “Adsorption of Gases on Carbon Molecular Sieves”, Journal of Colloidal and Interface Science, 1992. Recognized with: Dronacharya Award – Best Trainer, HPCL Mumbai Refinery (3 consecutive years); Operational Excellence Award – Symbiosis Technologies, 2023; and CII Award for Excellence in Energy Management, HPCL Mumbai Refinery – 2024. He has served as Technical Committee Member for the Organisational Readiness and Operational Excellence Category during India Energy Week 2025 and for CCUS (Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage) during India Energy Week 2024. He is a mentor and guest speaker for students at Andhra University and Thodomal Shahani College of Engineering, and works closely with HP Green R&D on indigenous technology development and competency enhancement.
